I firmly believe that if we study history we will be able to learn how to avoid the pitfalls of the past. But these days the history that we are taught is narrowly selected to confirm and reinforce the agenda of the day. This goes back to the old saying that ‘the victor writes the history.’ 

I am interested both aviation and military history. Especially the lesser known, and slightly unfashionable, aspects of Africa’s pre- and post independence wars, particularly the wars in Rhodesia, Katanga and the Congo.  along with general southern African colonial, and pre-colonial history.
